The Board of Trustees of the La Grange Park Public Library met at 7:00 p.m. in regular session on Tuesday, July 27, 2010
Call to Order/Roll Call
The meeting was called to order by President Hurley. Upon roll call, the following persons were present: Trustees Hurley, Lee, Fagan, Dominguez, and Foster. Executive Director Dixie Conkis was present. Trustees Cavaliere and Kaminski were absent
Introduction of Visitor(s)
Norm and Daniel Eallonardo. Foster moved to approve the Agreement for the Provision of Limited Professional Services by PSA Dewberry. Motion passed in a roll call vote: Foster-aye; Dominguez-nay; Fagan-aye; Lee-aye; Hurley-aye.
Minutes of Previous Meeting
Trustee Foster moved to approve the Regular Minutes of June 22, 2010 and the motion passed.
Treasurer’s Report
Director Conkis said that Jeff Kraus will attend next Board meeting to propose options for earning a better interest rate on Library funds.
Trustee Lee moved to approve the Invoices to be Paid for the amount of $27,805.33 for the month of June 2010 and motion passed 6-0 following a roll call vote.
Committee Reports
a) Finance Committee – Budget meetings scheduled
b) Policy and Personnel Committee – Committee will discuss review of Director Conkis at next meeting. Hours of Operation policy is scheduled for review. Interlibrary Loan Policy review will be postponed until situation with MLS is settled. Trustee Lee will take over writing thank you notes to staff.
c) Library Development Committee – no report
Unfinished Business
- Trustees Kaminski and Cavaliere need to review minutes for the audit by the end of August
- Trustees Kaminski and Cavaliere will schedule a walk-through of facilities
- Strategic Planning meeting for stakeholders tentatively scheduled for Saturday, September 18. Each Board member should find stakeholders to attend the meeting
New Business
- Trustee Foster moved to keep closed session minutes closed and motion passed.
- Trustee Foster moved to approve Ordinance 177 to levy additional .02% tax for building and maintenance. Motion passed in a roll call vote 6-0.
- Trustee Foster moved to approve Tentative Ordinance 178 providing for budget and appropriations of the La Grange Park Public Library District, Cook County Illinois for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2010 and ending June 30, 2011 and the motion passed in a roll call vote 6-0.
- Collection Development Plan was distributed.
- Library has not received the per capital grant for Fiscal Year 2010.
Communications, Correspondence and Meetings
- Friends of the Library week is Oct 17 – 23. Board agreed to give the Friends a framed proclamation.
- Tim Stratton, Library’s counsel, is moving to Arizona but would like to continue as Library’s attorney
Reports
- Board noted that the summer reading program had exceptional attendance.
