COOL VILLAGES DAY PROVIDES STRATEGIES FOR LOWERING CARBON EMISSIONS

CoolvillageThe La Grange Area League of Women Voters invites you to attend “Cool Villages Day” beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning, April 19 at the Reber Center of Lyons Township High School North Campus in La Grange.  Sierra Club’s Lonnie Morris will explain the Mayors’ Climate Protection Agreement, and representatives of the Center for Neighborhood Technology and Environment Illinois will clarify the sources of carbon emissions in Chicago’s west suburban area, along with strategies for lowering those emissions.  Northbrook Village President Eugene Marks will describe their village’s process of committing both to become a Cool City and a member of the Greenest Region Compact of the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus.  Evanston’s Carolyn Collopy will explain how local emissions can be monitored.  Participants will have the opportunity to commit to diminishing their own “carbon footprints.”

A resource fair will be held outside the Reber Center from 9 am to 12:30 pm.  Representatives of various products and services will help you discover new ways to do your part at home and work.

This event is absolutely free of charge, with an opportunity to win a cordless electric lawn mower donated by Neuton. We hope to see you there.

Someday, the whole world will thank you.
Funded by the League of Women Voters Education Fund and their sponsors.  For more information please go to www.lagrangearealwv.org.
